Well I have a immaculate 96 gsr with only 70k on it that was bone stock up until a week ago.  I replaced the entire suspension, including coil overs, lower control arms, bushings, Type-R rear sway bar, and rear strut tower bar.  Next step is the motor, and this is where i have alot of questions.  I'm looking for relieability first and foremost. I'm also looking for something more high performance than stock.  I will be doing a full rebuild, but i don't know what my best option is.  I have an old B18b block from a 91 teg that i was thinking of building up to put the gsr head on.  However, i have been reading that might be a waste of time due to the weakness of the block.  Should i stick with the GSR block and build that up? Or if i build the LS block from crank up is that a better option? just wanted to hear some thoughts on this topic before i proceed, I know it's not everyday that you would find an unmoded b18c5 and i want to put mine to good use.

ok so I am assuming that you have the LS block. These blocks themselfves are just as strong as the gsr blocks. the only difference is that the ls has smaller connecting rod bolts and doesn't have a oil jet under the crank. If I were you I would take your GSR and stuff the crank bolts rods pistons all the internals into the LS. Then go ahead and buy a B16 head and put that on then you will have crazy high compression probably close to 12:1 try to get type R cams though or a type R crank.
good luck

First off a stock gsr block is b18c1. The b18c5 is a USDM type-r. Second if you have a ls block I would either buy high compression pistions and build and all-motor car or buy low compression and build a turbo car. You can reuse the gsr head and buy the V-tec conversion kit and some ARP head bolts. What you want to do all depends on your budget.

your inthe wrong direction all ready. You are gunna need new forged sleeves, try and get your hands on some type R pistons. b16 won't work to small. also get type R camshafts.
For getting these parts I am sorry to say you are gunna have to go online.
good luck

oh one more thing the jdm b16a pistons work nicely with the ls motor here are some numbers off my lil brothers LS motor he is running....
JDM b16A P30 pistons = 11.1 comp on stock setup.
Ported LS Head + Crower valvetrain and Crower 403 cams.
Im not sure but i believe he is putting roughly 170-180 to the ground i know he hangs with lightly modded gsr's.
Thats all ls though if you want to use the b16 head and ecu it will be different..
