i feel so stupid for asking this

ok so my moms crappy ford explorer is breaking down on her and she's going to need another car soon. i want to give her mine since im looking for an eg hatch so i can start a new project, but she cant drive stick. so i want to know if it is possible to go from manual to auto?  

ahh the old ford exploder lol... dude your mom can learn to drive stick.. hondas clutches give you so much play they are inpossible to stall.  

the simple answer is yes it is possible. There is a pretty long list of parts you would need, but the good thing is, there are so many people that want to swap in the opposite direction(auto to manual) that you mihgt be able to find a person that will just swap everything over and the cost will be very minimal if you can do all the labor yourself.

That being said, it is a decent amount of work to swap out the trans, pedal box and all the associated little parts that will have to be changed out also. You may be better off just finding someone who wants to do the swap and see if they are interested in just changing cars. Depending on mileage, condition etc. it may cost you a few bucks or you may make a few bucks, but it would be way easier than going through all the work of swapping the trans.
