okay first of hi im newt the forum and i just wanted to say whats up okay heres what i wanted to ask i wanted to know what exactly do i need to do to my engine to turbo it. i have a 96 hatch with a JDM D15B non vtec motor and i was going to save up to do a swap and just do the basics to this engine mean while intake,header,exhaust,high flowcat you know the basics until i had enough for a B16 or B18 but someone was going to give me turbo kit for my car so i said why not i just wanted to know can my engine handle the boost and what kinda tune should i do to my car so i can boost it im not trying to no more than 10 psi any suggestions or help i would apreciate thanks

ok the jdm d15B is vtec.. for a honda on stock internals go no more then 7 psi, but if you want to build the sleeves and pistons and put in all arp bolts maybe some new valves and srings.. you should be good for around 15 maybe

thanks for the advice, ok im confused now though because i know my d15b is not vtec but you said all jdm d15b are vtec i was at a diffeent forum and they said the d15b with no number at the end of the b is jdm but i looked into it but mine isnt vtec unless im missing something i know theirs a vtec solenoid on the left hand side of the head gasket if its vtec but mine doesn have one so that means its not vtec right? o is my engine not a jdm engine ifyou can give me some info on this thanks i apreciate it hondasav

ok this isnt my first hatch my first ek was a 98 dx with a d15y7 the one i have now should have the same motor but it has a d15b the ones you listed above all have numbers at the end of the b minje just says d15b wich means acording to other sourcess its a jdm engine so does this mean i do have a vtec and do you know if theirs a way of knowing by just looking at the engine im not saying i dont belive when you say all d15b are vtec but alot of people saying mine isnt so either it is a vtec or its not a jdm apreciate all the help sav thanks

ok just look for the vtec solenoid on the left side on the back of the head

yeah theirs no  vtec solenoid i guess its a d15b non vtec oh well thanks for the help though this is a great forum thanks again

something is wrong cause i have a d15b in my ef hatch and its definetly vtec. the previous owner must not have wired vtec.

Ok.. it all sound dumb i know but.. i have a JDM D15B NON-VTEC also, and it DPFI. The engine code is D15B with no numbers. Its kinda messed up cause im about to do a mini-me swap and.. i dont know where to start lol.

haha man the jdm d15b is vtec, I have one. (its 130hp)
Also a good way to know you have the vtec is to just take off your valve cover and look at your lobes. im sure you know what a vtec valve train looks like. currently im lookin for a hatchback i wanna do a swap but i dunno which one to do.

I have a D15B7 16 valve and there is no number after the B on the block and it has the oil line for V-Tech that does not make it JDM it is just a better stock D15 is it worthy of a turbo sure is, the compression isn`t far off but I would not do more than 10 psi and I wouldn`t even do that untill race time....

Then what is the 7? D15B is jdm.there is a vtec and non vtec version. D15B7 is US
