I am selling my '93 accord SE, and buying a '98 civic EX. I want the civic to be a mustang killer but my budget is $1k. What mods do you think I should start with?  

Hey man what up i gotta 96 honda accord and I say go ahead and get your lowering spring, exhaust, intake and save the rest for a turbo kit.  If you wanna race on a track get suspision but you wont really need it untill you turbo and start racing. peace man  

If i remember correctly the EX is a D16Y7 engine yeah? get a D16Y8 head on there that should get your power up to 128bhp @ 6600rpm then uprated brakes and suspension, tower strut bars/braces, short shifter, decent seats and belts/harness.
DO NOT CHANGE THE STOCK INTAKE SYSTEM FOR A CAI OR OTHER AIR INTAKE you see, Honda did so much research that the other aftermarket intake systems arent any better and can even sometimes restrict the airflow, they just sound better but arent in reality.

you have a d16y8 in there already. if you want to do the y7 bottom end swap then you should go ahead and get a turbo. unless you have someone who has already do it and his car still runs great its not worth trying to figure out all the little things you need for the swap to work right. i own a 97 ex coupe and all ive got on mine is intake exaust and headers and it give most factory stangs a run for the money. but if you just want to own every mustang you come across you should get a good start with headers and such. dont do a motor swap cause when you pop the hood and the lil singel cam is chillin there it will hurt only that much worse trust me ive done it time and again to v8 owners. much luck with it.  

alright guys i dont know wht tha heck you guyz are talking about.. he said he want his civic to be a mustang killer.. but he only have 1g to spend... if he has 1g to spend.. listen to me... get new pistons and rods for your car.. then get cams.. you want to grab toda cam shaft and make your car sound monsterous and feel monsterous.. then grab any came gear you want.. you'll also need a new intake manifold for better airflow... plus new pullys as well if you want... your gonna need more then 1g to make ur car a mustang killer.. i too have a civic ex.. itz a 98 with the same motor.. with everything i just told you to put it... i smoked a mustang GT stock.. but v8 and more.. lolz.. you'll need turbo...
