Is it possible to swap in the S2000 steering assemble into an EG? Just wondering since the steering on my car has quite a bit of play, so I was thinking of upgrading.

why, I don't think it would be considered up grading, since the s2000 steering will mostlikley add more weight to your car making it potentially slower, my advice just ditch the power steering itself.. no power steering is the best and there is a noticeable power increase since there is less drag on the belt

I wasn't asking about power steering. My car has no power steering to begin with, and I was wondering about replacing the steering column since mine is getting worn out. I was asking about the s2k specifically because it's newer and feels more responsive, not to mention the added benefit of smaller the s2k steering wheel.

You would be better off just putting in another civic colunm, no powersteering at highspeeds is awsome. As cool as it would be to say you have a s2k column, would make no sense. The only reason that the s2k feels more responsive is because of the powersteering. Power steering usually shuts off once you get over 50km/h, but it will still be there to stop steering wobble, unlike non-ps if you are going about 100km/h and you juggle that wheel its gunna want to bounce back and forth. but its more responsiver. peace

i have to jump in on this one. he mainly needs to see the number of splines on the u-joint on the s2k and the # on the civic u-joint, if they match (highly doubt it) it'll work. and then the fun part of trying to get the wiring for the wiper, headlights etc redone to work on the older car. beautiful steering wheel, but really not worth the hassle, go to the junkyard and nad yourself another non-ps colunm

Hondasav, what's with discouraging the guy from trying the swap? I want to see if it's possible too. The EG steering wheel is hideous. I can say that I find most pre 2002 Honda steering wheels to be hideous.
It might not be easy but if it's doable, I want someone to do it, then document it, then I can save myself some headaches. You may not want to do it but someone does. He's not asking for an easy solution. I personally want to know HOW to get a S2K/DC5 steering wheel onto an EG even if it requires fabrication (but not something cheap and hard to undo like welding a steering wheel right in).
Cool Dude, there's a thread on Honda-Tech you may want to check out. It's on a DC2 but they've got pretty much the same setup. http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?&id=1938395

Thanks for the tips EGvsEM and Scourge! I have more reading to do. We'll see what happens.

Basically all you need to fabricate is a spacer for the space between the splines on the steering wheel and the splines on the steering column. I have no idea what material one should use, as it will need to be pretty thin. The cable reel from the EG won't fit directly onto the S2K steering wheel, but if you don't mind not having an airbag, you can modify it to run the cruise (if you have it) and horn. It's kinda a pain to take those things apart, but ultimate goal is to realign the posts to fit into the S2K wheel while not snapping the wires every time you need to steer to right-most extreme. I never got around to making the cable reel work on mine, but since I will soon have a spare (I snapped the wires ), I can let you know what the details are to get that part to work. As for the spline adapter, I'd love to have someone make a few. There is a decent precision machine shop here, but they are quite expensive. So if anyone has any ideas on that, I'm all ears.
