I have a 98 honda civic (D16Y7). I travelled from SAC TOWN to LA, and on my way to LA my speedometer died out as well as most of my electronics inside my car. Twice it would just die out and i would have to jump start it again. I thought it was the alternator, but it tested good. I got it running now but i feel like it has lost A LOT of Compression. It is lagging too much and I need my car to run good.
If you have had the same problem, please let me know what you did to fix it. Thanks, Rob

Keep it simple and check your battery before anything else, there are tests you can run on it, but assuming you don't have any diagnostic equipment, turn everything on, headlight, stereo up loud, turn your heat or a/c on full blast and crank it over, if your lights dim alot then you need a battery.

I would look into the main control relay-I believe that critter is located behind the carpet and plastic cover next to your left foot-This device involves the ignition, fuel injection,as well as other functions. There are also small relays in the engine compartment next to the battery-but check these after you check the main control relay, haynes manuals cover all the bases for testing this unit-The relay costs anywhere from 40.00 to 120.00....Good luck.....
