I have a 92 Prelude with the H22A motor. I can not feel the VTEC kick in at the higher RPM range. I thought it was supposed to kick in at 3500RPM but it stays the same through the 6200RPM redline. What do I need to do to fix this problem?

well man, the vtec does not kick in until 5000rpms...and vtec runs off of oil pressure, so make sure the oil is not burned, and that you have an adequate amount for the vtec to work...since vtec burns oil faster than normal to, these two pointers are vital to makins sure the vtec works properly...so i would check those first...

hey man chill70 has very good points but being a honda certified tech. it sounds like your vtec solenoid is clogged shut. if you remove the solenoid from the head and look into the oil entrance ther is a screen in there its behind a black rubber o-ring. take a pic and remove the screen . once the screen is out you can clean it with throttle body cleaner and reinstall with a new o-ring. 9 times out of ten when the dealer tells you that your vtec solenoid is bad its just clogged from not getting propper oil changes. try that befor spending money it will prolly work.

Hey man if your vtec is supposedly kicking in at 3500 then for one tht is not right. My B17 vtec hits at 6100 and it seems fine to me. so i'd agree with hangparty check the vtec silinoid
