B18C1 is by far the best choice for that year civic. 170 base HP in a lightweight body like a 92 EG civic is the most fun you will have with your clothes on!!!! mine is doing 140 MPH every weekend pounding on SRT-4s and when that VTEC hits............. it will put a smile on your face.
that is unless you want to boost then the LS/VTEC frankenstein monster is your best bet.

ok since, you probably don't have the money like the rest of the people that "plan" on doing a swap a b18b will do just fine, don't waste you money on a c1 unlesss you plan on hitting the track..

go k series

if you have like no money and want some decent power do a b18b it has compareable torque to the b18c aka GSR. but has less horse power. if you do have more money then get a b18c1 or b18c5 if you are really rich.

as for the ls vtec it is good for boost. haha

use a B18C1 block wit either the stock head, the ls head or frankenstein it wit a B16a2 head. Any combination will do you wonders. Check local junk yards or online for a motor. Tons of companies along pacific and atlantic coasts and in eastern parts of Canada with JDM motors at a low cost wit a warranty.

i say put a b20 in it its much the same process as the b18 but its a 2.0 instead of a 1.8 so it already has an advantage there its still cheap, and later if you put a vtec head on it you ought to run down gsr equipped cars easily. or just build it up non vtec still quite powerful.take it from someone who had a 2.1 ltr crx non vtec and stomped vtec and even low boost turbo civics and tegs.

The B18b isn`t just cheaper the compresion ratio is perfect to turbo so for more power and less tunning I would go B18B turbo....

Ok you asked what is the best b18. Well right off the honda factory line the b18c5 yes that is the ITR motor, makes the most power. But it is hard to find. If you want to boost a b20 bottom end with a vtec head is the way to go. Im going with the b18b or Ls non-vtec motor. the Ls motor has more diplacement that the GSR so with a vtec head makes more power. 140hp non-vtec 180-190hp with vtec depending what head you use.
