Hello everyone I just got a 97 ex civic a couple of moths ago. the stock D doesnt have enough power and I always loved the look of the 99 SI, just couldnt afford one. I think I am going to go with the B18a2 engine but I dont know how to convert the front end. can I use any 99-00 civic front end like ex, or lx. Or does it have to be from a 99-00 SI front end. Help me out guys I am new to the world of civics cooming from chevy Big block 454's down to 1.6 civics. but I find I have more fun with my civic.

Wow that's a big drop from 454s. Is it an EX coupe? and what do you mean by converting the front end? - like to fit the engine? If that is the case all you need to fit the motor is custom motor mounts. Check out www.hasport.com they make the motor mounts for Civic engine swaps. I believe the B18A2 is the LS Integra motor. Try the B18C1 motor - it has more HP and the are a bit more afftermarket parts for this motor. The B18A2 is the non-vtec engine but you can swap the heads on it with the GSR (B18C1) head. One of my neighbors swapped a in a LS VTEC (B18-nonvtec block with a B18C1 GSR head) into his 99 Civic coupe. Of course he had the whole thing rebuilt and prepped for turbo runnin' about 460hp to the wheels.

Yeah it a 97 ex coup. Sorry bout that i meant the b16a2 the one in the 99 si. i hear theyre real good for handling turbo's at high RPM. but i was looking into the b18 c1 or c5 last night but that alot of money. So i will have to save for a while. i meant front end conversion to the body. ya know the hood fenders bumper and lights. i like the 99 SI look of the body. I orignally wanted a 99-00 SI but couldnt afford one so i will build one little by little. but in white like the canada model.

Oh ok I see what you mean. Yeah the B18C1 and C5s are a bit expensive. You should look around 'cause some places sell them at different prices. The B16A2 is still a good motor. When turboing the B16A2 you should at least have the bottom end rebuilt. Definately sleeve the motor so it can handle turbo charging especially at high boost. I don't know about conversions all too much. I think you just have to take of the regular pieces and replace them with the ones you want. Some pieces, in some cases, require a little bit of adjustments, extra clips or bolts, I think.
