Hi - new to this forum site and hoping there are some dc5 owners on here that can help me stop being ripped off by a local Honda garage...... 2 questions - whats the best oil to use for my 2001 Integra DC5 - currently run it on 5w/40 but it burns about a litre every 4 weeks - someone has suggested it's too thin? (it's ok there is no smoke from rear so its not the rings gone!) 2 question - there is a creaking and knocking everytime i turn the wheels which has got worse over last couple of weeks. Honda have told me its an inner ball joint but on the opposite side from the knocking. The creaking from the rack is like a clicking noise as it turns the wheels. The car has just passed its mot and nothing was noted about the ball joints. The car however is lowered to the max on bilstien coilover springs......can anyone help this damsel in distress

i use 10w30 in my k20a2 and i go through about a quart every oil change! How do you drive your car? if you are in vtec all the time then expect for the oil to be used in the engine because there is a small amount of oil that gets heated up and evaporates running through the evap system. If you want to run a catch can then you will see whats running through your intake!
The DC5 is setup almost the same as my ep3 in terms of the suspension. Im not sure if the DC5's are prone to the steering rack creak that the ep3's are. It sounds similar to what the ep3's do. Of course if you need any information feel free to cantact me. I also have a DIY catch can if you want

Are you sure you don't have an oil leak in you soemwhere? Are there spots on the ground where you park? If so it's probably a gasket somewhere. And as for the creak and clicking when you are turning, it probably is the CV joints. They went on my old accord and It costs about $250 a side for parts and labour.
