the only way your civic is going to push 400hp is to strap it to another civic with a turbo B16A

LOLOLOLO thats a good one..............i was just askin cause i read about a D16a after finishing some serious tuning it was gonna push 400hp...so i imagine that a B16a swap it will be better than tuning the D16.........

there are 10sec "drag only"  d series cars, but a the highest power Ive seen on a d series was 280whp @ 25 psi, now I have seen one that had head work, tb, and everything else done to make it breath at the max pushing around 16 psi making 267 whp. So I would imagine that if you was running a completly built d series @ 30 psi. you could get around that power range, but the cost???? your talking in the $25,000-$30,000 range (if you want it to last) the b series is cheaper and more relible to build for high horse power. But hears a little secret not too many people know. A couple of buddies of mine at UTI was just curious, and strapped a completely stock civic ex (apart from fuel upgrades) to a dyno with a 400 shot of nitrous. It lasted 33 dyno pulls WOT before a connecting rod failure. Just to give you an idea of how bad ass that is a 4.6 mustang only lasted 4 with a 300 shot. I also ran a d series at WOT with no oil or coolant for 6 minutes before the same failure. This is just to give you peace of mind if you do decide the d series route. They can take a beating.

It is very common to see d-series motors over 300 hp now. There are more than a handfull of daily driven SOHC knocking out 400whp on budget builds! Research man. And save the SOHC!!!

this is true. a correctly built d series with all the proper parts will produce an easy 400 horsepower with tuning and boost. A buddy of mine made 350whp, about 400 on a dynojet, with stock intake and stock cam at 25 psi. I myself have a fully built bottom end, fully built top end, with all the after market bolt ons and am shooting for the 400whp mark, D16z6. The only thing really holding back the d-series is they only hold about 450hp with stock sleeves.
