hello,I purchased a 98 civic ex automatic [v-tec] with a rod through the block I bought a 1.5 from tigermotors that was suppose to be a direct replacement, when I received the motor the intake was different it had an erg valve and other differances.I changed everything over from my motor including the single seleniod at the oil passage for the cam.I installed the motor and it seems to run fine except after it runs about 4 minutes it starts to pulse up and down from about 1200 1900 rpm.The question I have is my motor had one selenoid valve at the back of the head at the cam oil passage, the head on the 1.5 has two selenoids at the back of the head. The 1.6 head has a casting no. next to the dist.j1 the 1.5 is a j6.Do I need to change the head in order to use the single seleniod or will it work on ether head. Thanks,Tom :

probally ur iac?(idle air control) i put my d16y8 head on a d16y5 block. worked fine except i was using a auto ecu, intake manifold, and iac. i replaced my ecu, and iac, and drilled holes in the auto manifold for the iac passages, and drilled and tapped one bolt hole for the iac. then it worked w/no check engine light. be careful not to drill through manifold sides. oh and i used jb weld to plug the iac ports on the throtle body where the automatic iac is located.
