i have the 1.5 motor but when you turn the car on for the first time in the morning the temp gauge reads cold the within a minute it peaks on hot but it doesent seem to be overheating changed the temp contol sensor but still nothing what else could it be  

Its probably your thermostat.  

changed thermostat and still doing the same thing  

when the temp gauge goes to hot try tapping on instrutment cluster i have found three different veh, to have a short in the inclusterments clusters having a internal short,causing the same issue, if you can get a wireing daigram of the veh, from a dealer it would be easy to trace down
