I just finished a B20Z swap in my EK and I am very happy. Here's the breakdown: B20Z - $1000 GSR hydro tranny - $400 (got lucky) LS ECU - $150 Axles - $200 or so ACT clutch - $200 I think Engine mount - $100 Shop labor for swap - $700
Well that's the big stuff, but the killer is the small stuff you don't remember to account for. Flywheel resurfacing, wiring, injectors, and sensors can add up fast. If you want cheap and reliable, a B18B or B20 with an LS transmission and ECU is the best way to go. B16s are just not torquey enough and feel just like a D16 until 6000 RPM. Not fun. Check out Honda-Tech.com, the thread "What swaps are available for my civic?" would be a good start. You should have at LEAST $3000 cash on hand to spend on your swap. I couldn't settle and ended up spending a grand total of almost $5000 for the swap and goodies like a P8R head, crower cams, Hondata S300, and a 2.5" full catless exhaust. Cheap, fast, reliable. Pick two.
