Hey there, I have a 2008 mugen civic si, and was wondering, How reliable are the comptech superchargers for the k-series motors????....would my motors life span shorten dramatically?....would my motor blow up near 100,000 miles?, I just really need some feedback on whether a comptech supercharger for my civic si will still be as reliable as the naturally aspirated way???

No car will ever be more reliable than a N/A. There's just less stress and parts to worry about, but will you still even have your car at 100,000 miles? Comptech supercharges, in general, are very reliable. Yes they do put more stress on your engine, but you'll probably sell your car and move on to your next car before then.

Comptech is one of the most reliable companies in the industry. Any time you modify a car you're potentially shortening the life span, but the main factor that determines if your car will last is if you maintain it properly. Performing regular maintenance is ten times more important of a factor.

I know of a couple guys with CT SC's and they're all running strong. The CT SC is pretty much plug in play, as opposed to any other forced induction option out there. I currently have a Greddy Turbo on my Si, and I can tell you from experience that a SC is way less of a hassle.

I seriously doubt you'll want to keep the car for 100,000 miles. I know I get bored of cars fast and I'll probably end up ditching my Si in another year or two. Unless you drive 50,000 miles a year or seriously plan on keeping this car forever, I wouldn't worry too much about that.

You can now go to Comptech and have the engine rebuilt to more powerfull and last longer.  I guess they are in Sacramento, CA now and still have the same engine builders that were there when they won all the championships and the Indy 500.  FYI their engine department for rebuilds is 916-338-3434.

I know how to maintain my vehicle at top notch so that shouldnt be a problem!
its just that the comptech superchargers are force induction items, and i have heard of broken rods and pistons because of superchargers.  But then again, a lot of people online claim that a comptech supercharger is really reliable!
basically i dont want my internals breaking at like say 50,000 miles...anyways, have you heard of any 8th gen comptech supercharged civic si's breaking down lately???

well, i have money for only the supercharger kit and its already costing 4,000!...i dun wanna charge another 2,000 for a rebuild, if i were to spend that much more than i would have gone and bought an Evo or STI...

yeah well i was just wondering if it would last to the 100,000 mile mark just in case i need to keep it that long!, if i were to drive it normally and only race it about say 2 times a week just to have a little fun but not too extreme!
