I was trying to decide whether i should rebuild my F22b in my 97 accord lx or attempt to swap in an H22 by myself(no experience and no shops around where i live willing to do it) and a friend suggested that i rebuild the F22 bottom and put an H22 head on it. Is this practical or even possible? also, is there a six speed transmission that will bolt to either of these engines?

Is this a daily driver? Do you need it up and running any time soon? With no experience and no one around to help you are looking at a long downtime no matter which way you go. I know B-series motors well, but am not well versed enough to know if putting an H22 head on your F22 block is a good idea or not. I do know the H22 is a great motor and offers more power options than the F series. It kinda depends on your budget and your willingness to learn. If I were just starting out, I think I'd pick up another F22B to swap in so the car is up and running, then maybe see about building the motor you want and swapping in it when its complete. Just a suggestion.

i agree with tnt. i would buy another f22b and get the car drivable, and it wont cost as much to buy a used f22. then if i were you i would rebuild the one you have now and either keep it for backup. or make it a lil stronger and find an h22 head to stick on it. the head will be much better to work with (more options) if your wanting to add more power later. if you dont care that much about adding a lot of power you can always mill the f22 head and stick with bolt-ons
