I am the original owner of a black 2000 civic si. I have done very  little to the car as it was actually used by me and then my two kids to commute with. It is lowered a little, KYB shocks, and some nice rims (cuz some punks stole the stock ones). Ok that is the history. car has 200K on the original engine and is burning oil like Iraqi soldiers fleeing Kuwait. Believe it or not it still has the stock clutch - goes to show you none of us have beat on the car.

I would like to consider an engine swap. 1) does anyone make a replacement/rebuilt engine for this car, 2) are there more potent engines that are nearly bolt ins. I have two muscle cars that i built from scratch so I am not an idiot with tools. if I upgrade the power plant, I am certain there are other mods I have to consider. Please educate me.

If you want horsepower you could go H2B and be over 200whp with little ***

Just buy the kit that allows you to use a 2.2 litter prelude engine with your b16 tranny and all the original drivetrain components like axles and shift linkage of your car. You just swap your engine for the other.Nothing else has to be changed. Althought some things need to be modified for engine clereance on the engine bay.Electricaly speaking its almost a bolt-on affair if the 2.2 engine or H22 is OBDII as yours is. I have a 95 Integra and already waiting for the H2B kit to arrive.I have the H22 engine and all I'm putting inside and outside it by now, just waiting for the h2b kit to unite the motor with the tranny.

In your SI, the B16 tranny you have, combined with the H22 engine will be racing dynamite because of your tranny ratios. Not mentioning adding and LSD to the tranny.Your car weights about 450 pounds less than the prelude and like 300 less than mine. Just avoid the H22a4 SH engine. The block casting is different to the others h22 ones. It wont bolt on to the kit frame. Mine is an H22a4 BASE engine, not SH. that's the OBDII engine you'll need to go. OBDI ones are USDM H22a1,H23a1 non vtech. Japanese is H22A.

Whatever dude, grow up and let the b series go. What he will gain with gsr or type R? 25 whp? maybe 35? I'm taking about real Horse power here. K series are on the road, that's what this is about. You say that about the H because b series are cheap, everywhere and its maintenance is cheaper too. However, the H set up takes a little more work to fit in thats all. Already having a b series setup like the civic SI you can run like a k with an H series investment of 2,500. Or go k and invest over 8,000 without tuning it. No insult to the b that I'm still running on my integra until this summer. Even thought it is not vtech, I have a few wins under my ribs.
