Just got my hands on a 93 coupe and I want more power then the stock motor...alot more. Been looking around and reading and I am leaning towards the b18c.  Is that an easy swap and if so is there a better motor out there that would fit easily and and give me more power?  I think my main concern is the swap. I just want it to be simple.  Any input is greatly appreciated.

thanx

You need to ask yourself a few things:

1) What is your budget???
Stock GSR swap is 170-180 crank HP depending on JDM versus USDM. Expect around $2-3K. Also remember that the last time B18C motors were made was 8 years ago. Decent condition motors are much harder to come by. You might consider a rebuild. K series motors are the newest and are as high as 200-220 crank HP depending on USDM or JDM. Expect around $3-5K.

2) Do you want P/S, A/C, and cruise?
B series are no problem. It is possible to go with A/C and P/S with a K swap, but difficult and potentially unreliable. There is an aftermarket A/C kit out there. Don't know how reliable it is or how much it costs. P/S requires a 98-01 type R steering rack, a P/S pump from a non-electric steering K series car, etc. I don't know if cruise control will work in a K swapped Civic or Integra.

3) If you live in Cali, do you want to smog it?
USDM B18C1 GSR motors are no problem. JDM B18C motors are a problem. Any K swap is damn near impossible unless you have lots of time and money to do the swap right. There are only a few K swapped cars that have been done right and passed the Cali smog ref. It required the rewiring of the dash harness, and transfer of the gas tank and fuel components from the donor car to the recipient car.

appriciate the input, but first of all it already dont have p/s and I aint really worried and of course the K swap sounds nice and all but its really alot more difficult then I want to deal with. Im just looking for mabe something that will just bolt right back in the place of the old motor.  An easy swap.  Thanx

Ok... well there are some other factors that play in this field of swapping engines. One, are you mechanically inclined along with are you up for the challenge of putting a new wiring harnesse in place of the old. There is no real such thing as an easy swap. Also, NO b series will just "bolt in". You will have to buy aftermarket mounts. I HIGHLY recomment Hasport. As for the harnesse, there are many companys that offer premade harnesses that will offer less painful installation. Good luck
