Hi all,

I recently lost my baby (a 76 dodge D100 w/ a 440 and 727 torque flight) to an absent minded woman turning left across traffic. To get me moving again, I'm in the process of buying a 95 Honda LX with a vtec engine with 280k miles on it. Its a manual and it burns a little oil, but its a Honda, so I figure i should be able to squeeze a few more miles out of it before a major rebuild is required. Anyways, I have a few questions:

1) What engine does this car have? I'm pretty sure its a 1.5 and I know is a vtec but I'd like to know the name so I can do some more extensive research and I'm having trouble finding this info.

2) This car is ugly as sin, but im not much into the ricer scene and I dont care about looks, but I want a quick car. Is this engine/ car a good platform to tune some nice 1/4 mile times out of?

Thanks for taking the time to read this. I appreciate any responses.

you would want to do a b swap in your car. you will get quicker times and more power from a DOHC and the swap is very easy

a b16 would be the best bet if you wanted vtec. its the cheapest b series vtec you will find, you can get good power and good speed from it. if you dont want vtec you could go with a b18a they are dependable and can get decent power if you do the right things to them. great for boost. but the best i would say would have to be the b18c, its quite a bit more expensive. those are dependable b series motors.

but if you do decide to stay with a d series, try and find a d16z6. in my opinion they are the best out of the d series. that with a si tranny, internals and headwork and they can be pretty fun.
