yesterday i was driving home from college on the interstate and was aproached by a del sol with a body kit, carbon fiber hood, rims, exhaust ect. a worthy aponant, or so i thought. he signaled me to pull over to a rest stop so i did. We talked for a few minutes and compared our cars, exchanging info about our motors and such. This kid was cocky and bet me fifty bucks his ride was faster. at first i was slightly reluctant because his del sol had the 1.6 vtec turbo and modified ecu. but i said *** it and away we went. my prelude has headers, strut bars, high flow cat, and a borla muffler and other than that its pretty much just the stock 2.2 h22a vtec, according to the dino, its got 215 hp. anyways it was no contest whatsoever, he stayed with me until i hit third gear and he spent the next 5 miles or so staring at my smoked alteza tail lights. next rest stop i signaled him over and he he reluctantly handed over my fifty bucks. This surprized the *** out of me because he has the turbo. anyways i thought it was funny so i thought id share with u guys

He probably has stock internals so he is probably only running 7 lbs. of boost making some where around 200 Hp. I thought his car would be faster because it's lighter but the body kit would add some weight. And your car has more torque too.

That's what I seem to read on most turbo manufacture sites if it is the SOHC VTEC. If it is the DOHC VTEC then it would be more.

yeah it was the sohc, that would explain how he kept up with me until third gear, those single cams tack so high! well...then again my dohc tacks at 8 1/2k. his 1.6 couldnt tack much higher than that...maybe 9k. but i wasnt even tackin out when i raced him so unless he rebuilds his motor or puts a decent amount of $ into it i dont have to worry about him winning any rematches. fackin high school kids and their rice rockets, jesus

Yeah, I have a 99 Civic EX coupe and it has the same engine. The red line is at 7,000. Even I know that engine isn't all taht fast.

Does it go into the red at 7 or tack out at 7? cuz it should tack higher than 7, mine will bounce at 8 1/2. its pretty crazy i love the h22a its definatly one of the best 4 cyls honda made, except for the fact that its not gr8 4 boost unless you sleeve it

true that, his car equipped with honda del sol parts could make a car a great ride for races but Vtec is much better...
